I am a foodie, but not a cook or a party planner! I hit the jackpot when I found Chef Cathy at SMS! I planned a 60th birthday party for my partner and she guided me through planning the entire event! The appetizers, the dinner and the service she provided was top notch! She was so easy to work with and incredibly professional! I will for sure hire her again, the guests also plan to use her in the near future! Thank you again Chef Cathy!

What a great event we had at my daughter’s wedding shower. Supper Made Simple made this event one of the most memorable events. Their professionalism with planning, setup and cleanup was incredible. The food was enjoyed by all the guests, they had GF options as well. They also provided a wonderful gift for my daughter. I would highly recommend them for any occasion and we will definitely be using their services again. Thank you for a wonderful event!

Chef Cathy & her team brought their magic (not to mention incredible food) to our daughter’s backyard wedding. From Cathy’s gentle guidance around helping us choose the perfect appetizers for our afternoon event, to the preparing of, and then artistically displaying, trays of pure yummy goodness, to the savoring of her creations….we were left completely satisfied & overjoyed!
With Cathy’s eye for detail, her made-on-site fresh food, and all the little extra touches she brings to an event ~what’s not to love! Even the clean up was meticulous. She even brought a lovely wedding gift for our daughter, and left us a surprise treat for the next morning. Talk about thoughtful!!

Chef Cathy recently prepared food for my 50+ person bridal shower and everything was incredible! Chef Cathy and her team prepared an amazing brunch for us and we had many guests rave to us about how much they enjoyed the food. Chef Cathy is so amazing! She was so professional throughout the whole event. I had a surprise dinner at home for my fiancé and she was just so insanely nice. Chef Cathy catered at my 150+ person graduation party. She prepared and organized an enormous charcuterie board (the entire length of an L-shaped countertop) for guests to fill their plates with assorted cheeses, fruits, vegetables, dips, bread, and so on. She also made amazing desserts. Chef Cathy worked extremely hard and diligent throughout the entire day to keep everything running smoothly and made sure the tables were always full with food. Everyone at the party raved about how wonderful the food looked and how amazing everything tasted. I had multiple people tell me it was some of the best food they had ever eaten.
I absolutely loved how all of the food turned out at my graduation party and I cannot thank Chef Cathy at SMS Personal Chef enough for that!

My neighbors and I had a brilliant idea to have a progressive dinner but none of us actually wanted to cook. We contacted Chef Cathy and she agreed to give in to our whim and designed a lovely meal. Cathy even accommodated our special request for a vegetarian entrée! We had appetizers at one house, the main course at another and she left us with a plateful of amazing desserts to take the third. We loved it so much that we did it again this year. Cathy is professional and kind and very flexible with our meal requests. There’s something about sharing wonderful food with friends in your own home without the distractions and noise of a restaurant. Thank you Chef Cathy! We already can’t wait for our next one.

Let’s start with delightful! The entire experience was delightful, professional, instructive, warm and engaging. I headed to Chef Cathy’s on the first snowy day of the season. The menu she selected was perfect for the day: Cathy’s personal version of chicken soup with homemade spaetzle (there is a secret ingredient!) Arugula salad with orange slices, creamy feta and the best honey, garlic, lemon dressing I have ever tasted. (I plan on asking Chef Cathy for more salad dressing recipes) We easily established rapport as Chef Cathy moved with confidence and ease around the kitchen. Questions were welcomed, I had many opportunities for hands-on work and honestly…we accomplished quite a bit and covered a lot of territory in our conversation. The food we created went home with me for the weekend which I enjoyed thoroughly. I finished lesson #1 feeling competent, creative and inspired to get back into the kitchen…

I chose Chef Cathy to provide the food for my daughter’s bridal shower. We had a Couple’s Shower, so I knew I needed much more food than if I just had a ladies only shower. I had never hired a personal chef (or caterer) before, so I really had no idea what to expect in terms of cost, choices, quality/quantity of food, reliability etc. I can honestly say I felt like I hit the jackpot when I found Chef Cathy! From start to finish, everything was perfect! We talked about the event I was planning, she asked about my daughter and her fiancé to get to know a little about them and then Cathy immediately started rattling off ideas for dishes that sounded incredible…and they were…phenomenal!! This, to me was the difference between hiring a personal chef like Cathy and a caterer! Cathy’s dishes were all unique which I loved…not your typical large group fare that you expect to see. But, never having hired a personal chef before, I was really nervous about what it was going to cost. Cathy was so reasonable in what she charged for the delicious food and service she provided! Cathy showed up right when she said she would with all of this fabulous food in beautiful serving dishes! We were given clear instructions for everything we needed to do before serving (which was almost nothing…pour dressing on a salad, take something out of the oven) Our guests raved about the food and wanted to know where on earth I found her! I knew then I’d made the perfect choice in hiring Chef Cathy! I obviously cannot say enough good things about Chef Cathy (sorry this is so long)!! I took a leap of faith I guess hiring a personal chef when I’d never tasted her food before, but I couldn’t have been happier that I did!! I will definitely have Chef Cathy for any and all events I have in the future!!

This was my first experience with Thumbtack and Chef Cathy. I hosted a baby shower at my sister’s house and Cathy was absolutely fantastic! Everyone raved about the phenomenal food, but Cathy herself was a pleasure to work with. She gave delicious options to pick from, was very responsive and trustworthy. Our experience with Chef Cathy was an absolute delight from start to finish. I’ve hosted many catered parties both large and small and I can honestly say Chef Cathy’s dependability and culinary talent was top notch. I found her on a Google search as we wanted to host a catered dinner following our son’s graduation in Ann Arbor. Cathy contacted me immediately upon filling out a form on Thumbtack. I was drawn to her personable profile and previous menus. She was always responsive throughout our two months of planning and easily accommodated our various requests. It was so much fun planning the menu with her! We knew that we would be out all day at multiple ceremonies, so Cathy and her team needed to come to our rental house, set up and cook before we arrived back to the house. The evening proceeded without a hitch!
Chef Cathy provided delicious and unique appetizers to start followed by a lovely plated dinner for 9 people. Her timing of each course was perfect! We enjoyed unique Lemon-Basil Marinated Shrimp in Parmesan Cups as one of the three appetizers. In perfect coordination, we sat down to a plated meal that included delicious and moist Chicken with Lemon & Artichokes, Asparagus Bundles, and Wild Rice Salad with Artichokes. Several overflowing plates of petite homemade bars and cakes followed for dessert. Cathy even presented our son with a special gift of a framed photo of his final college art project!
Throughout dinner, Cathy and her assistant, John, made sure we had plenty of wine and second helpings. To top off a perfect evening, all dishes were cleared, cleaned and put away. This is top notch service and professionalism. Our entire group agreed that having Chef Cathy far exceeded any experience we would have had at a restaurant. I’m only sad that she doesn’t live closer to our home in Los Angeles! We loved Chef Cathy!!

No matter what your next event is, Chef Cathy is the right personal Chef for the job! If you want delicious, memorable, and fun – Chef Cathy is who you want to call. I haven’t known Chef Cathy very long, but I have watched and enjoyed the many samples she has brought into our Networking group. I have heard directly from people that used her for smaller events and were so very pleased they did.
From the moment we started talking about using her for my daughters’ graduation party, I was confident she was a good choice. Then, she brought samples to our house one evening, which mind you was like having samples from a fancy restaurant right in your home! The samples were outstanding and made the menu decisions even easier. She fed this family of 4 very well that night, and from that point on I knew Cathy Ferrara and Supper Made Simple was the perfect selection for our event.
The best part of hiring a caterer is not having to prepare the food. The even better part of hiring Chef Cathy and her team is, not having to do anything at all, except to relax and talk with all the guests at the party. And that’s exactly what we got to do! The big day came, Chef Cathy and her team showed up and we, not only enjoyed great food, but really got to spend time with all of our guests! That would have been impossible if we were serving the food, especially since there was over 100 guests at the party.
You know something is successful when virtually every guest tells you that the “food is great” without you even bringing up the topic. That really did happen; we honestly heard it the whole evening. Our daughters’ special day was made even more special by Chef Cathy and her team. If you are looking for anything from a romantic dinner for two for a special occasion, dinner for a family gathering or right on up to a large party – call Chef Cathy!

I have had the pleasure of using Chef Cathy’s service on two occasions this year.
The first was for a Bridal shower for my future Daughter in law. I secured the location and that is all I had to do. Cathy did everything else, from set up to clean up. She served a wonderful meal of Italian style food.
The second time was for my Daughter in laws Baby shower. Yeah! Two soups, spinach salad & rolls with carrot cake.
I had never had an event catered before. I was astonished at how reasonably priced it was and most of all stress free. I was able to be free to visit my guests and not worry at all what was going on in the kitchen. I wouldn’t hesitate to use her services in the future and I have recommend her to others. Five stars!

We first used Chef Cathy when my husband had surgery and was out of commission. With caring for the family and working full time I needed help. Chef Cathy came to my rescue. She worked with my family to come up with a menu of healthy meals that we received each week. I was so pleased with the fresh selection of healthy choices delivered and how easy it was to get dinner on the table. The best part was my family absolutely loved every dinner she prepared. Quite a feat with finicky kids! Since that time we have called on Chef Cathy for family meals and my daughters graduation party. I still receive compliments from friends and family on the tasty selection of foods served. I can’t wait to see what she prepares for our next graduation party. We have used Cathy for many different occasions. First I hired her to be my Father’s personal chef. He needed to be on a special low salt diet. He loved her food because it was full of flavor without all the salt and home made. She made menu choices fun and with a lot to pick from. We also have used her for Jewish Holidays which also had special menu choices. She really is a diversified chef! If you are in need of just yummy baked goods, she is it! I like her food so much that I once asked if she could teach me to cook! Lol. Then to my surprise she started teaching classes. My daughter and I especially liked the crock pot course! One of my favorite things to make from another class is Kale Chips! I work so much that I have used her to make meals for me to give to family’s in need. The event that was our favorite was our son’s Bar Mitzvah, which was 200 people. The service was so professional and flawlessly executed. The menu was loved by all.

We have had several meals prepared by Chef Cathy and all were outstanding. The portions are very large and we end up with extras for lunch or the next day for dinner. I have to say she made the best risotto I have ever eaten. Her delivery service makes it very accommodating for her clients. Once the food is delivered everything is neatly organized and in their own containers and I love the easy simple to read instructions for reheating.
If she had a restaurant it would be difficult not to eat there everyday.

We are challenging clients because of my husband’s recent heart issues. We are very careful with our diet. Cathy has made dinners for us that fit the diet but actually taste delicious as well. Just when I think the meals are really great she gets better. Cathy is innovative and blends flavors exquisitely.
